ROCKIN' JOKER CLUB CHATTER JUNE/JULY 2006 by Marv and Ina Tanner (Published in Squares 'Round the Bay, 06/06) |
The
Rockin’ Jokers presentation of Circus Circus entertained over 25
squares of
enthusiastic dancers. Our Ring Master Larry Ward and Lion Tamers Chuck and Shirley
Hurst entertained all
from the center ring. Chuck
and Phyllis DePalmo expertly
guided our team of roustabouts to ensure the show came together to
please the
dancers. In May we danced at the Lucky Steppers Newer Dancers hoedown where Harold FleemanRoger Smith provided an entertaining dance program. We were happy to see our Rockin’ Jesters attend as they look forward to graduation in May. Next up was the Krazy Dazys great Black and White Ball with Gentleman Jim Osborne calling and Chuck and Shirley Hurst cuing.' Lola Michael and Bill Steinberg, our activities directors, organized a dinner and theater party to see the Saratoga Drama Groups’ production of La Cage Aux Folles, which was enjoyed by many club members. In June, Lola and Bill have planned a day of miniature golf, followed by dining at a nearby restaurant. We appreciate Lola and Bill for planning many group activities for us. The May party night theme celebrated “Spring Flowers” which was most appropriate after all our spring rains. Roger Smith and Josie Baumgartner are doing some traveling. First they went to the 47thRoger did some calling, and then they took a well-deserved cruise to Alaska. We welcomed back Jim Kauss. He has resumed his Vice President duties. We thank Bob Bennett who took over for Jim during his leave of absence. Twitch Twitchell is recovering from hip replacement surgery. Herb Meltzer is recovering from a stroke, and is in therapy. His wife Marilyn is recuperating from a case of walking pneumonia. We wish our ailing Rockin’ Jokers well and a speedy recovery. * * *
