ROCKIN' JOKER CLUB CHATTER October 2009 by Kitty LaFavor (Published in Squares 'Round the Bay, 10/09) |
As
the month of October brings cooler weather, the Rockin Jokers are
gearing up and finalizing plans for our annual HOoodown. We
hope that many of you will come on Saturday, October 17th at the First
Congregational Church in San Jose and dance to Bronc Wise and John
Flora. Last year the costumes were great. We look forward to
seeing the creativity and originality of the many of those who attend
this year. Check out our website for all the details. We have a special thank you for our caller Roger Smith and his lady Josie Baumgartner for all they do. They brought extra equipment and spent extra set up time so we could dance outside on several hot nights. Roger even spent some time one evening teaching the RJ President’s two visiting granddaughters (age 13) a few of the calls. And to report back on a few past events; we had a great time and had 146 dancers at the Mid-Week Hoedown sponsored by the Beaus & Bows, Krazy Dazys and the Rockin’ Jokers. We also have four Rockin’ Jokers members who completed the recent Norcal caller school. They were Karl Belser, John Caywood, Teri Consentino and Roger Hemsley. The weekend following our HOoodown we hope to see many of you at the 50th Annual Harvest Hoedown in Yuba City. * * *
