ROCKIN' JOKER CLUB CHATTER DECEMBER 2005 by Marv and Ina Tanner (Published in Squares 'Round the Bay, 12/05) |
Many Rockin’ Jokers enjoyed the SCVSDA
49th
Annual Jubilee. It was great to have it
at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds again. Mary Gingell, and her
committee, deserve accolades for a very successful Jubilee. We
had a large turnout of costumed dancers
at our Halloween Party. We still don’t
know who the Most Original “Alien” really was. We
ended October dancing at the SCVSDA/SVCA Inaugural Ball
Wing Ding, with
our caller Roger Smith as one of the
featured callers. We
welcomed Otto and Carol Schmid back from their
leave of absence. It’s good to have Van
Symons dancing again after his shoulder surgery.
Mel Grant is recovering
nicely from his hip replacement. We
won’t be surprised to see Mel on the
dance floor soon. Congratulations
were
given to Allen and Carol Glesser on
the recent birth of their granddaughter in Flagstaff. We began November with our new
slate of
officers, headed by
President Jackie Daemion. We
all appreciate our outgoing President Allen Glesser
and his wife Carol for all the energy they devoted in
guiding the successful merger of the Rafter Rockers and the Jokers. Many Rockin’ Jokers attended the
Annual Thanksgiving Dinner Dance, expertly organized
by Jane Bishop. This
dance has become a tradition and enjoyed by dancers
throughout our valley. We are looking forward to
hosting our Newer
Dancer Holiday
Hoedown on December 3rd at John Muir Middle School.
Our September Rockin’ Jesters class is
progressing
well, and they are looking forward to attending this hoedown. Several
of our Rockin’ Jokers will be participating in the San Jose Christmas
Parade on
December 4th. * * * |
