ROCKIN' JOKER CLUB CHATTER May 2008 by Lola Michael (Published in Squares 'Round the Bay, 05/08) |
Many of the
Rockin' Jokers enjoyed the races at Bay Meadows. Jane Bishop and
Wayne Saylor put in a lot of time coordinating the event for the square
dance clubs to attend. We thank them for a wonderful
day. A thank you also goes to Jerri and Doug Bates for driving
their motor home and transporting a number of people to the races. Our round dance cuer John Flora and partner Dolores Ferrero have been diligently working to promote the 55th Golden State Round Up on May 23-25 in San Ramon. Our caller Roger Smith will be calling sometime during the weekend. Most of the Rockin' Jokers attended the 5th Wednesday hoedown hosted by the Krazy Dazys' at Hyde Middle School on April 30. The food was plentiful and the dancing was fun with all the different callers taking their turn entertaining us. Char and Roger Hemsley are in England visiting family. Van and Anna Mae Symons were on vacation when Van had an accident. He thought he had sprained his ankle and went dancing. Later Van checked back with the doctor and found he had a broken leg. Now that is a diehard square dancer. Van will be in a cast for approximately six weeks. Marion Pava has had repair work on her knee replacement and hopefully will be dancing again in the near future. Members Kathy Myers and Gunnar Kristensen are back dancing after being under the weather for a few weeks. Keep Bob and Judy Hogan in your thoughts as he goes through more sessions of chemo. Remember when? The clubs would charter buses to take their members to the festivals? There were buses to Silver State, Golden State, Solvang, and Santa Maria. Everyone brought refreshments to share, their best singing voice, and a good sense of humor. * * *
